Great news for first home buyers as the State Government extends $30,000 grant

Jun 10, 2025

There’s never been a better time to make your move to Highland Walloon, with the Queensland Government officially extending its $30,000 First Home Owner Grant for a further 12 months.

Introduced to assist first-time buyers to enter the property market, the First Home Owner Grant was temporarily doubled on November 20, 2023, and was expected to revert back to $15,000 on July 1.

But in a welcome move the State Government has this week announced an extension – giving first homebuyers a financial boost and helping more Queenslanders break into the property market.

With an extra $15,000 in your pocket, it will be easier to secure a house and land package in one of Southeast Queensland’s most exciting new communities.

At Highland Walloon, the $30,000 First Home Owner Grant could help to reduce your loan amount or go toward upgrades and extras that turn a house into a home.

Lennium Development Manager Ian Worthington said the grant extension was a game-changer for many buyers who had been watching the market closely.

“An extra $15,000 can make a huge difference, particularly for first-time buyers who are trying to balance savings, rising rents and the cost of living,” he said.

“It gives people that added confidence to take the next step, especially in a market like this where demand is strong and good opportunities don’t last long.”

Perched in the elevated hilltops of Walloon, in the state’s rapidly expanding western corridor, Highland Walloon combines breathtaking mountain views with unbeatable value.

Construction is already underway, with four-bedroom, two-bathroom homes featuring double garages starting at around $650,000. Each home includes an average lot size of approximately 500 square metres – offering more space and better value than most new land releases in the region.

Here, affordability and lifestyle combine to create a community that offers the best of both worlds – a peaceful, countryside atmosphere with easy access to schools, shops, transport and the growing Ipswich region.

Mr Worthington said one of the biggest advantages of Highland Walloon was the range of affordable house and land packages available.

“Buyers can choose a package that suits their budget and lifestyle, with the reassurance that a range of home designs and builders have already been selected for the block – ensuring a stress-free experience from purchase to construction,” he said.

“We understand that buyers want value for money, and that’s exactly what Highland Walloon delivers.”

To be eligible for the First Home Owner Grant, buyers must be at least 18 years of age, an Australian citizen or permanent resident (or you’re applying with someone who is). You and anyone you are partnering with must not have previously owned property in Australia that you lived in, and you must be building or buying a new home.

With home and land packages already selling fast and demand only set to increase, now is the perfect time to take advantage of the grant and secure your future at Highland Walloon.

Potential buyers are encouraged to register their interest to avoid missing out.
